Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list  that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers. (Meme description from The Broke and the Bookish.)

You cute dorks.

1. Sleepy Hollow (Fox) - Premise: Ichabod Crane wakes up in the 21st century to a destiny as a witness fighting the forces of evil, including the headless horseman. Abbie is a magnificent badass and second witness who gets caught up in this shit.

Thoughts: Ichabod vs. Technology gives me life. I adore Abbie and Jenny. Hawley is excellent man-pretty eye candy. Katrina just needs to go. Away. The characters are fantastic, but man the plots are starting to need some work. Gross demon pregnancy didn't work for Twilight and it definitely didn't work here. But that show is just not afraid to GO FOR IT, thus I love(d) it.

Ooooh la la Murder Princess!

2. The 100 (CW) - Premise: 100 teenage criminals are dropped onto a possibly-toxic nuclear-bombed-Earth  100 years after the last world war. The teens work towards survival, but earth just wants to kill them any way it can.

Thoughts: RAVEN REYES, AKA Mechanical Badass. CLARKE GRIFFIN, AKA HBIC, Murder Princess. BELLAMY BLAKE AKA The King, Clarke's Fanclub President. OCTAVIA BLAKE, AKA The Girl In the Floor, Fighting Badass. Finn, AKA the flop, grossest human being ever. I could go on really, but I will spare you. The show is totally awesome and is also unafraid to GO FOR IT with characters and plots.

PRESH.

3. Vampire Diaries (CW) - Premise: Hundreds of years-old vampire brothers fight over a teenage girl that looks like their manipulative and supposedly dead lover. Also werewolves! Also witches! Also hunters! Also hybirds! Also a billion other things because this show should have ended so long ago and is becoming trash but I STILL LOVE IT.

Thoughts: Caroline is Queen. End of story. Stefan, Elena, and Damon just need to be ignored. Unless Stefan is smiling and joking. Jenna was TOO PRECIOUS FOR THIS WORLD. Alaric is an alcoholic sass-master. Jeremy has his sweet puppy eyes. Not great on that whole diversity thing. But I swear this show's drama just freaking sucks you in and will not let go.

Case in point, HBIC.

4. Agent Carter (ABC) - Premise: Flawless Peggy Carter works in a male-dominated profession full of assholes and saves them all without them even knowing it.

Thoughts: Peggy is the true HBIC. She is just sass and kickass and totally wonderful. Jarvis is also wonderful in his sweet, British, clueless, but occasionally useful way. Also OMG Forney, when did you start taking such creepy roles? Go back to Novalee.

CRYING JUST REMEMBERING THIS.

5. Shameless (Showtime) - Premise: A really f-ed up family from the ass-end of Chicago tries to make it despite an alcoholic father and their self-sabotaging tendencies.

Thoughts: Can you tell I like strong women? Because YES. Fiona is so fierce. I have such respect for Emmy Rossum for doing such a dramatic and crazy role. Lip is awesome. I just want to hug sweet Ian. Debbie and Carl kinda freak me out. Liam is... still a baby. The show is so freaking awesome, hilarious, heart-wrenching and just plain out there.

Oh Buffy, everything goes so wrong for you.

6. Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Premise: One sassy high schooler has been chosen as the Slayer to save the world from all evil, specifically vampires. Then she falls in love with one. Seven seasons of disaster ensue.

Thoughts: BUFFY, the second queen of my heart. (Sailor Moon is first, always.) I'm sorry, but omg I've always hated her name. Loved the show though. JOY *sob, sob, sob.* Giles, Willow, my precious babies. Xander, go die in a fire okay. Also, BuffyxAngel FOREVER, even though Spike was still awesome. The Body episode still makes me cry like crazy.

SO BEAUTIFUL, SO MAJESTIC.

7. Charmed - Premise: Three sisters inherit their witch powers as members of the Halliwell bloodline after their grandmother dies. Then they have to fight all the evil in all the world. And J/K there's actually four sisters. Surprise!

Thoughts: PIPER FOREVER. PHOEBE FOREVER. Paige and Prue, you're kinda interchangeable. I mean I love you both, but you were never my faves. LEO FOREVER. And Cole... when you're being good, maybe. Loved, loved, loved this series. Oh my Goddess Part 2 is my favorite episode ever because Piper is Mother Earth and just wants to destroy EVERYTHING when they try to take Leo from her. Stand by your man Piper! That episode is followed closely by A Witch's Tail Part 1 and 2. I flat out SOBBED during All Hell Breaks Loose.

MY BABIES.

8. Roswell - Premise: Three aliens live in Roswell, New Mexico. One of them falls in love with a human and saves her life. Then things get weird. And complicated.

Thoughts: LIZ AND MAXWELL 5EVER. Die, die, die Tessa. (Love you Emilie de Ravin!) Michael and Maria it is a TRAGEDY you two didn't stay together. Oh my god, that second season was cray. But one and three are awesome. Allllleeeexxxx *cry*. This show made me love Shiri Appleby. She should be in more stuff. And Jason Behr, you need to stop being in creepy horror movies. But you can keep being in cheesy Hallmark movies Brendan Fehr.

ROBBED, I TELL YOU! ROBBED!

9. Gilmore Girls - Premise: Lorelai and Rory live in quirky Stars Hollow. After Rory gets accepted into the prestigious Chilton, Lorelai must grovel to her estranged parents for the money to send Rory to school. Seven seasons of drama later, it's all worth it.

Thoughts: WE WERE ROBBED OF LORELAI AND LUKE IN THE END. Ahem. I adore Rory, Sookie, and Emily and Richard, and pretty much everyone on the show except Rory's love interests. This show is A TREASURE and don't you forget it.

Lol. Classic Veronica.

10. Veronica Mars - Premise: A sassy high school girl decides to investigate her best friend's murder, which left her and her father ostracized by the Neptune community. No one proceeds to take this badass seriously as she takes names.

Thoughts: THE MOVIE. It was all I ever dreamed. But the show is fantastic too. Logan is up and down for me. GO AWAY DUNCAN. Keith Mars, Wallace, Weevil, and Mac are fabulous. Also, a testament to its awesomeness, once my friend watched THE ENTIRE FIRST SEASON all night during a sleepover after I went to bed.

Happy Reading,

  1. OMG. Roswell. I miss that show so much! I didn't get into Buffy that much, but Angel was my baby. I've watched around 3-4 eps of Sleepy Hollow and really like it, but I have Doctor Who, Arrow, The Flash, and Broadchurch all commanding my attention so I'll probably just binge watch one weekend.

    1. I know! I miss Roswell too, but I think it ended at the right time. Interesting! It was flipped for me. Angel on his own was just too broody, but Buffy was my girl. My goodness, so many good shows to watch. I hope you enjoy them all.

    1. Hmm, if I had to pick one for you to watch... it would probably be The 100. The first episode is so, so, but it grips you in almost immediately after. Or, Charmed, Because I just love it so much!

Favourite show of the season so far. Favourite current show, too, I think. CHARMED WAS ABSOLUTELY EPIC IN EVERY WAY. I want to do a rewatch soon. And Veronica Mars <3 It's in my top five favourite shows EVER.

    1. Me too! Every day after school I'd watch the reruns on TNT and beg my mom to stay up when the new ones came out. Yeah, I love Gilmore Girls, but I'm discovering a lot of people I know aren't big fans, which is sad. I love fangirling with them. YES! More The 100 fans. Also yes, yes they do. Thanks for the comment!
