Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list  that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers. (Meme taken from The Broke and the Bookish)

1. The Lucky Harbor Series by Jill Shalvis- I just discovered this great series and am super excited to push it onto all of my friends. Ratna is a closet romance junkie. The girl owns over 20 Harlequin romance novels. They're short and sweet but not much for plot. The Lucky Harbor series has plot, sexy romance and a lot of funny lines. It will be perfect for her.

2. Vicious by V. E. Schwab- Emma likes complex characters, twisty plots and superheroes. Vicious is the book for her. The easier it is to make slash fanfiction out of, the more she likes it.

3. I am Pusheen the Cat by Claire Belton- Nikki isn't much of a book reader, more a graphic novel/manga/comic book person. She's an artist and likes to surf through the internet for cute/obscure things. Pusheen would be a great book to read. It's short, has drawings, is cute and funny. I'm sure Nikki has already heard of Pusheen, but maybe not that she has a book.

4. Suddenly Royal by Nichole Chase- If there were a way for me to select any one of my friends as a candidate for royalty, Ashley would be the one. She's humble, genuine, loving and totally gorgeous. I'd imagine Ashley would take learning she was royalty as well as Sam did. Plus, Ashley loves romance, accents and travel. She'd swoon hard for Alex.

5. Divergent by Veronica Roth- Sam is a bit of a pop culture geek. He's really into books turning into movies and will try reading just about anything once. With all of the interesting characters, action, world-building and the fact the books are becoming movies, Sam will love it. He's also really into strong female characters and mothers. I'm betting Tris' mom will be his favorite character.

6. Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion- I'm not sure what Lauren's book tastes are, so she was a bit tricky. I know she likes comedy, sarcasm and movies. Warm Bodies has all of these elements and an awesome movie. It's a shot in the dark, but a good one. I think.

7. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin- Mara is such an awesome book. My sister will love it. The darkness, character development, mystery, romance and insanity all comes together so perfectly. Plus, I know she'll love the twists just like I did. It's rare for her to be surprised by books, similar to me.

8. Foreplay by Sophie Jordan- Priyanka might be a little embarrassed I'm throwing her out here like this. (If she ever reads this blog post!) She read 50 Shades of Grey and liked it. I reserve judgement on that. However, I do know Foreplay has a hot guy with tattoos and some steamy scenes. As a bonus, there's some solid plot thrown in there. I'm sure she'll enjoy it.

9. The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner- Rachel mostly enjoys middle grade fiction books. The Thief will be a good series to ease her into more adult fantasy books. Turner's series has a simple narrative style, but gets really twisty with kingdom politics. Plus, who wouldn't love that rascal Gen?

10. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken- My mom likes YA books with solid world building and strong characters. There are a few elements I'm not sure she'd like. But, I think she could look past them to really enjoy the novel. I can tell you right now Zu and Chubs will be her favorites.

Happy Reading,

  6. Awesome list. If I could I would recommend Divergent to the world. Maybe after everyone watches the movie, they'll go read it!
