Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list  that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers. (Meme description taken from The Broke and the Bookish)

1) Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas- How have I not had time to read this yet? HOW? I was halfway through rereading Throne of Glass when I had to put it down for school work. I will be absolutely ECSTATIC when I have time to read through Crown of Midnight at my leisure. (Which at this rate, might be Thanksgiving or winter break.)

2) A Darkness Strange and Lovely by Susan Dennard- Zombies and Paris. What could be more fitting for an October read?

3) Trust in Me by J. Lynn- Eeeeeeeeeeek! More Cam and Avery! I'm so excited to read this novella. It will have to tide me over until February when Be With Me (Tess and Jase) comes out. Wait For You has been my favorite J. Lynn (Jennifer Armentrout) book to date and I'm thrilled for the opportunity to read more of my beloved couple.

4) Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke- I've heard some great buzz for this book. I've wanted it ever since the title and cover were announced! We'll have to see if it lives up to its hype when I finally get the chance to read it!

5) Where the Stars Still Shine by Trish Doller- Something Like Normal has been one of my favorite reads of 2013. I'm completely jazzed (wait, do people even say that anymore?) to read her next book, Where the Stars Still Shine. I'm fascinated with the plot and am eager to see how Doller's fabulous writing shapes the story.

6) Vicious by Victoria Schwab- Superheroes! I have an obsession with superheroes, especially origin stories and why people choose to become heroes or villains. Of course, Schwab writes fabulously in all contexts. I can't wait for her lyrical style to take on villains and vigilantes.

7) If I Stay by Gayle Forman- I know, I know, how can I call myself a contemporary YA fan and not have read Gayle Forman? Trust me, I feel the guilt every time I see it on my book case. After watching Chloe Mortez's (Mia) Instagram photos from the set and the casting of Adam (Jamie Blackley) I'm even more determined to read the book before the movie comes out. Both look like they will be amazing!

8) My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick- I've heard bunches and bunches of great stuff about this book. I know at some point during Fall/Winter I'll be craving a little bit of summer sunshine. I'm saving My Life Next Door for then. Plus, I just heard there's a sequel coming out in 2015 called Boy Most Likely To.

9) Ever After High: The Storybook of Legends by Shannon Hale- Come on now, don't judge. The little videos on Youtube are adorable! There's mini stories of the main characters available for free on Kindle. With Shannon Hale, an accomplished fairytale re-teller with her novel, The Goose Girl, as the writer, it will be fabulous!

10) Star Cursed by Jessica Spotswood- Born Wicked is a novel which screams fall to me, specifically October. I'm going to reread it before tackling Star Cursed. So excited to get reacquainted with Cat, Maura, Tess and Finn! I will probably end up climbing the walls waiting for Sister's Fate, the third and final book, to come out in 2014.

Happy Reading,

  1. My Life Next Door!!! It's SO GOOD!! I still need to read If I Stay. I own it and started reading it a year or so ago, but it starts off really sad and I had to stop. I'm thinking of trying it again bc everyone likes it so much. Cool List... I like your Fall TBR graphic!!

  2. It is so fitting you have Sarah J. Maas and Susan Dennard next to each other haha. I haven't read the Dennard books yet (but I am hoping to whenever I have a spare moment), but I read Crown of Midnight a couple weeks ago and IT IS EVEN BETTER THAN THRONE OF GLASS.

And I'm all about anything Shannon Hale has written, so you'll have to let me know how the Ever After High series is!
