An ambitious intern. A perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling. Discover the story that garnered more than two million reads online.

Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He’s exacting, blunt, inconsiderate—and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard.

Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family’s massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who’d been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative—completely infuriating—creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he’s never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe’s so tempting he’s willing to bend the rules—or outright smash them—if it means he can have her. All over the office.

As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they’re willing to lose in order to win each other. Originally only available online as The Office by tby789—and garnering over two million reads on fan fiction sites—Beautiful Bastard has been extensively updated for re-release.(Summary from

I received this E-Arc from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This review may not be safe to read at work and is definitely not for anyone under the age of 16.

My brain may have turned into a mushy pile of goop from reading all of the fucking in Beautiful Bastard. This is expected of erotica of course, but I would have liked to get through a few more scenes where Chloe and Bennett weren't grinding their genitalia together like the world would end should they separate. Oh! And the ripping! I cannot forget that almost every single time they did get together, her panties were ripped. It should seriously become a drinking game. One shot per rip could get somebody supremely drunk. I lost track somewhere around the fifth time he took her in a manly fashion. Also, take a shot every time someone says the words beautiful or bastard. That will get you trashed in the first 50 pages.

I may kid about repeated panty ripping and the sheer number of fucks, but Beautiful Bastard was a decent, fun read. Chloe was determined and a hard worker in or out of the office. She had a tiny bit of sweetness and vulnerability, but the girl didn't entirely turn into a puddle with Bennett. The beautiful bastard was, beautiful and a bastard according to descriptions. I was torn between liking his sweet moments, but wondering exactly the ass-hat side of his personality would make its next appearance.

Chloe and Bennett's explosive romantic chemistry was amazingly steamy. Their constantly volatile relationship? Not so much, no. The arguments were hilarious, where they both dished it out to each other. As Bennett and Bennett's dad repeatedly say "Chloe gives as good as she gets" in the battle of witty comebacks.   Watching Chloe and Bennett act like idiots did not light my fire. Bennett tries to do something nice and Chloe starts screaming at him. Chloe tries to keep up appearances which results in Bennett yelling at her and fucking in a bathroom. This relationship is crazy. ANYONE who reads this book, I want you to promise you will never use Beautiful Bastard as a relationship guide. It might be exciting in books, but this shit in real life can get scary quickly.

The biggest reasons I marked down Beautiful Bastard was their reactions to their relationship and each other. Chloe was entirely too wishy-washy over the whole thing. She was appalled at her behavior, but made almost no attempts to stop it. She whined over how much control Bennett had over her body, yet gave in to every single thing he wanted physically. Bennett decided that Chloe was sexy to the point where her sexiness made him mad, like "how dare you be so attractive and make me want you!" Look, I understand Bennett not  wanting to be aroused by his intern, but he could have chalked it up to his own physical reaction, not blaming Chloe. These things may have been included to ratchet up the tension, but after a while I just got tired of their  games.

For those interested in the sex: As I said before, Chloe and Bennett have a lot of chemistry together. Most of their encounters are in the same position though, face to face with her ankles around his back or hips. It was changed up maybe once or twice. There is a light amount of oral and self pleasure. The characters choose to have their trysts in a few public places. I wouldn't label this one as "kinky" by any stretch, but it should satisfy those looking for a sexy read.

Beautiful Bastard is a fun, kind of dysfunctional erotica/romance to read. Even though this book was, in its extremely old baby drafts, fanfiction, it didn't remind me of any really specific story I'd read before. It feels like entirely new material, which I was thrilled over. Though I will admit to Chloe and Bennett's relationship starting with all the subtlety of a lemon one-shot. There's a decent plot, but really who reads erotica for the plot? (No judgement, just wondering.) I ask fans of erotica and romance to give it a try, I feel they'll be pleasantly surprised. Anyone who loved 50 Shades of Grey will eat up Beautiful Bastard in one sinful bite.

Teaser Lines: "Jesus," I said shaking my head. "Why do you have to be such a bitch all the time?" I could feel the adrenaline trickling into my veins, feel my muscles tensing as I literally shook with lust and rage.
"I guess you just bring out the best in me," she said. She was leaning forward, her chest nearly touching mine.

Happy Reading,
