Top Ten Tuesday (44)

photo from the broke and the bookish

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list  that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers. (Meme description taken from the broke and the bookish)

New to Me Authors I read in 2012

*I'm counting 2012 debut authors on here too!*

1. Sarah J. Maas, author of Throne of Glass- I am so incredibly thankful to and for Sarah. She is a delightful and wonderful human being. Her book is unholy levels of awesome. Sarah is almost everything I strive to be.

2. Megan Whalen Turner, author of the Queen's Thief series- The Thief, the first book in the series, is fantastic! I loved it so much. I am very happy the series was recommended to me. I will definitely be telling others to read it soon.

3. Cinda Williams Chima, author of the Seven Realms series- Does it count on the list if I'm still in the middle of reading the book? I say it does! The Demon King is a rich fantasy novel which is making me so happy. The book's world is tremendous. There is so much to explore.

4. Jennifer Echols, author of Such a Rush- Why did I wait so flipping long to read this lady? Such a Rush was one of my favorite contemporary novels of the year. It was so brutal yet steamy and endearing.

5. Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian, co-authors of Burn for Burn- Jenny Han, I actually read first with the Summer series, but heard of Siobhan through Burn for Burn. They make a fantastic writing duo, adding in the perfect amount of emotion and trauma.

6. Jennifer L. Armentrout, author of the Lux series- Obsidian was the first complete e-book I read that hadn't already been traditionally published. I am so happy I took a chance on this one! I've also read some of her Covenant series since then and adored it too. The woman can write steamy teen scenes extremely well!

7. Leigh Bardugo, author of the Grisha series- How have I not fangirled about the novel Shadow and Bone before? I really adored it. The writing was so poetic and lovely, it made for a great fairy tale tone in the novel.

8. Sarah Rees Brennan, co author of Team Human- I have not read The Demon's Lexicon series, but I have read Team Human and met Sarah Rees Brennan, both of which will make you laugh until your stomach hurts.  I wish that I had discovered this awesome lady's humor and cool accent earlier.

9. Jessi Kirby, author of In Honor- Kirby wrote such a cute book with In Honor. It was light and pleasing as a ray of sunshine. Plus, she made a whole bunch of awesome Taylor Swift mentions which I enjoyed.

10. Alexandra Bracken, author of Brightly Woven- I KNOW that I have mentioned on this blog numerous times how much I am dying to read The Darkest Minds. I want that book so badly! The reason for that is, of course, reading Brightly Woven Earlier this year and seeing what a BAMF writer Alex was.

*Bonus* Michelle Hodkin, author of The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer- If you don't love Mara and Noah after reading The Unbecoming, I simply do not know what to do with you. Also, Michelle is one of the nicest people in person! She was great to me at YALLFest.

Tell me what awesome authors you discovered this year! Maybe I've read them or will pick up their books too.

Happy Reading,
