Merry Manga Week Day One

I'm starting off Merry Manga Week with my favorite manga of all time.

Sailor Moon or more accurately, Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon by Naoko Takeuchi!

Romance Rating: 5/5
Art Rating: 5/5
Story line: 4/5
Characters: 4.5/5

Sailor Moon might be a fairly dated manga by now (the clothes are not all that "hip".) However it is full of heart and superb, stunning art. I used to make deals with my mother. If I did good in school each week, at the end of the week, I could have one Sailor Moon manga. I did it for months until my grades were impeccable and I had an entire shelf full of Sailor Moon. It really boosted my love of reading into the scary intensity it is today. Usagi might be a little bit whiney in the beginning, but I promise she becomes a mature and lovely woman. I always loved her because she was a moon princess, therefore her... crybaby-ness was more endearing than annoying to me. All of the other Senshi are gorgeous, kind and totally kick butt. If you love shojo manga, you need to read this series. (Even if it seems a little bit ridiculous at first.)

Some side notes: The anime and manga are completely different! The anime is much more childish, while the manga is young teenager level. The names are completely different (the mangas have the original Japanese names, the American names are...odd.) Also, Michelle and Amara (Michiru and Haruka) are not cousins in the manga, they are lovers.

Here are some samples of the art:

Happy Reading,
