Book Stalking 101 (10)

It's the return of my favorite monthly posts, Book Stalking 101! However, some of you might have noticed I skipped last month. (November went by in a blink for me.) Missing this meme twice in one year is a little embarrassing for me, so I've resolved to change how this meme operates next year. Book Stalking will get a massive scale back, but I will still be posting the releases for each month (hopefully earlier than I have been doing.) So, look forward to that and other changes in the coming year. Now, it's time for the main event, the books!

Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally Released December 1st 2011
Why Stalk? I've never known any girl quarterbacks on boy's football teams, especially in high school. Could this just be a failing of my utter lack of a sports education or is this actually done? I'm not sure. Since I tend to be very anti-sports we'll see how far I can get without sports vernacular vertigo hitting when reading Catching Jordan. The story sounds very cute though, so I'm willing to try. Plus, my middle name is Jordan, so I might be a bit biased.

Wintertown by Stephen Edmond Released December 5th 2011
Why Stalk? The book just gave me a good feeling, I see a lot of potential for a nice story.

Why Stalk? This is the second book in a series of prequels based on The Mortal Instruments series. I'm convinced Mundie Moms is going to bust something waiting for the release date. I have the first book in the series, Clockwork Angel, but I have yet to read it. My friends have however, and assured me it was a good series.

Eternal Starling by Angela Corbett Releasing December 6th 2011
Why Stalk? I love the description and I adore the cover, both are amazing. However... I got a sneak peak of the novel on the YA Scavenger Hunt. It may just have been the scene that was chosen to share, but the over use of dialog tags had me cringing. I'm confident there's a great story to read in there, but I may be a little wary of buying it first thing.

Obsidian by Jennifer Armentrout Releasing December 6th 2011
Why Stalk? I have a confession. Ever since Roswell (of the book and tv show fame) has ended, I've been DYING for another good alien series to read about. This one has so much potential, I'm daring to hope that it will be good. Not to mention Jennifer Armentrout is reputed to be a very good writer. I have my fingers crossed so hard on this one!

Why Stalk? Apparently, I have a hidden girly streak and it really loves to come out at any mention of Jennifer Echols, Morgan Matson, Sarah Dessen and Stephanie Perkins. I get all crazy girly whenever I read their books. I have no clue why. However, I really, really love their books and their writing. Therefore I'm recommending you get this ebook. Now. Please?

Shattered Souls by Mary Lindsey Releasing December 8th 2011
Why Stalk? I've been curious about this book ever since I saw the petal filled cover. I will admit to not being crazy about the extremely obvious set up of a love triangle, but I'm hoping the author can write it very well. The story sounds unique, creepy and cool, definitely a winning combination for me.

The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder Releasing December 8th 2011
Why Stalk? Books like this can go either way, become really sad or really happy. I for one, am always rooting for the happy. The inner neurotic in me finds lists extremely comforting and therefore really wants to know what tasks Cam has to complete. And look at that cover, really? Isn't it like unfairly pretty with all the pink and the feather outline? Also, if you put the word "probability" into any title, I have an extreme compulsion to read that book.

Touch of Power by Maria V. Snyder Releasing December 20th 2011
Why Stalk? I love Maria V. Snyder and you should too. Her Magic Study series is amazing, so be sure to pick that up when you get this one. I cannot wait to read it (received an early copy from Netgalley). For some reason, I've always had a fascination with people who can heal by touch. I always wonder what they can heal, and if they can break it too.

Still Waters by Emma Carlson Berne Releasing December 20th 2011
Why Stalk? I'm not going to lie, I'm mainly interested in this book for the pretty cover. The dress is flawless and I really like the submerged in water effect. The story sounds one part creepy, two parts horror story, with a splash of mystery. I'm extremely excited to read this.

Why Stalk? Is anyone else as freakishly excited for this as I am? The hidden neurotic in me LOVES guides to book series' with a scary passion. I adore the extra information, the character bios, pictures and side stories all packaged into a concise little book. They complete me. (To the point where, even though I had lost interest in the Twilight series entirely, I was still creepily overjoyed to receive the series guide from a friend.)

Kiss, Crush, Collide by Christina Meredith Releasing December 27th 2011
Why Stalk? Honestly, this book pretty much sounds like "poor little rich girl." The book even says, she has everything every other girl wants and still isn't satisfied. I want to read it because I do like stories where people have to find ways to grow into their own skin and learn to be honest about who they are. However, I have a feeling that, at some point, I'm going to roll my eyes at the book and mutter "Why is this not enough for you?"

Why Stalk? This book has been praised for the good writing and fun plot but I just can't get on board. I cannot read books where I know from the start that someone's feelings are going to be hurt and they're going to be taken advantage of on purpose. I hate that sort of thing. Some people may love it and not take it as much to heart as I did, so I'm including it on the list. However, I don't think it's one I'll get around to reading.

Every Other Day by Jennifer Lynn Barnes Releasing December 27th 2011
Why Stalk? Jennifer Lynn Barnes is a completely awesome half robot human being who wants to be a scientist, watches tv shows like Vampire Diaries, Secret Circle and Roswell, and writes really good books. If you haven't had a chance to read her Raised by Wolves series you are sorely missing out. This novel sounds very interesting; a demon hunter with powers only every other day? Sign me up to read please!

Love and Leftovers by Sarah Tregay Releasing December 27th 2011
Why Stalk? The opening line of the book's description was all I had to read to convince me to get this book. "My wish is to fall cranium over converse in dizzy, dream-worthy love." Because I mean who doesn't want that? Plus, I have a very special soft spot for romance after watching my parents be totally in love for the past twenty-six years.

And that, is this month's list of spectacular debuts that you should be buying and reading. Let me know if there's one I've missed that you want showcased on the list!

Happy Reading,
