Fan Letter Friday (15) Blogger Edition

This is fan letter friday. All the time I see nice, special, kind and good authors on twitter, facebook, their own blog, etc. that I make friends with or follow on accident and I adore them. I like them as more than authors. I like them as people. So, I decided, since I don't have time to review every single book these people have written, I'm going to write to them. I am going to flaunt my love for them all over the internet and hopefully brighten their day. I am going to sound, insane, rambly and possibly like a stalker, but that's just part of the fun right?

Dear Kristi, (The Story Siren)

I think it's awesome what you've been doing for your cousin Kaylea! I'm sure she's thrilled by the piles of books that people sent in (including myself). I hope she loves her purple wig and likes to wear it. Pink and blue wigs might be fun too. She might start feeling like a super secret agent or a princess with magically changing hair. I really admire you for doing so much for Kaylea. Her family must be so proud of you.

I don't remember how I came across The Story Siren. I think I was looking for "best book blogs" or something so I could get inspiration on how to run a proper and exciting book blog. I found you and one other blog. I browsed through your site and I thought you had hung the moon in the night sky. Your layout was so pretty, all of your followers loved you, your reviews were polite but opinionated, you got all these books and wanted to show them to people, you helped new bloggers with advice, you interviewed publishing reps, you were just so sociable and happy. (Plus I liked/wanted to read 97% of all the books you reviewed or recommended.)

When I saw that jealous, petty or rude people would insult you, I was genuinely offended for you. You're so nice and you don't pick on anyone, I could not understand why these people were so mean. Once I calmed down, I realized there was no good way to react to those people so I simply tried to support you. I saw red when the bad comments started discouraging you from reviewing. I know that bad things happen to good people, it is a fact of life. Still, there was no reason for the insults people were throwing your way. (Frankly, I know I probably would have reacted badly.) Another reason I admire you is how nicely you deal with, or don't deal with them at all.

I want to show my support for you in this fan letter. I know you'll never stop reading and I sincerely hope you always enjoy it. I don't want you to stop reviewing or interacting with people, but if you stopped, I'm sure most people would understand. Do not take what jerks say to heart, I know you know this but I feel like I have to repeat it. You're a kind and wonderful person who loves books and wants to share that love with and inspire it in others. You're promoting literacy, which is a wonderful, wonderful thing. At the end of the day you've pushed countless people into discovering and loving new books, that is something to be
proud of and lie awake thinking about, not rude comments.

I just wanted to say thank you to you personally. If not for you, I probably would have given up on my blog after two weeks and not thought a thing of it. You constantly inspire me to try different books, see characters in different lights and work hard on making good reviews. I feel like I owe all of my followers, stats and comments to you. My Summer Girl Books wouldn't have been anything if I hadn't found you and your website. So, thank you very, very, very much for giving me a chance (in a very roundabout way, I guess.) :)

Hope Xander and J are doing well, can't wait to see your new IMM video!
