Book Stalking 101 (8)

Hello everyone,

As you might have noticed, I didn't do a book stalking post last month. With all the craziness in my life it completely slipped my mind. However I do have one all lined up and ready to go for September. So, let's take a look at this month's awesome releases!

Blood Bound by Rachel Vincent Released September 1st 2011(limited stores) Fully Released September 20th 2011
Why Stalk? Are you screaming? Because I am screaming. I loved Vincent's Shifter series to a ridiculous degree. I've heard good things about her Soul Screamers saga too, but haven't gotten around to reading it... yet. Despite having the same name as Patrcica Briggs 2nd Mercy Thompson book, Vincent's Blood Bound sounds original and fantastic. I have a minor obsession with unbreakable oaths involving skin and blood. (Wow, I sound scary.)

Witch Song by Amber Argyle Released September 1st 2011
Why Stalk? Forget cover love, this is like book cover porn. I love all of the colors and the painting is so beautiful it makes me hurt inside. I would seriously pick up this book in a store for no other reason than the fact I find it pretty. However there is an amazing fairytale-esque story attached to it about witches which should make you want this book too.

Why Stalk? Jackson Pearce, Melissa Marr, Carrie Ryan, Rachel Vincent, Kelley Armstrong, Jeri Smith-Ready, Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Claudia Gray, Rachel Caine, Ally Condie, Kimberly Derting, Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia. Are you freaking kidding me? Do you need another reason than all of these names? I think my head is going to explode from all of the awesome authors in the lineup.

Why Stalk? I'll be the first to admit the cover is not my favorite and the names don't sound too stellar. However I love Carrie Ryan's Need series so I will probably pick this book up at some point.

Shut Out by Kody Keplinger Released September 5th 2011
Why Stalk? I just about snorted water out of my nose reading this book description. It sounds amazingly funny. Girlfriends promising no hookups with their boyfriends until a sports rivalry has ended is brilliant. I love girls vs. boys plot lines and I adore when there are huge sparks between characters, be they passionately serious or seriously passionate. I live for the challenge!

Why Stalk? I love Meljean Brook and her amazing writing. (Boy, can she write a steamy scene.) The guardian series is really good, getting better with each installment. Though I must disclose Savi and Colin will always be my favorites.

Vanish (Firelight #2) by Sophie Jordan Released September 6th 2011
Why Stalk? Dragons, sacrifices, star-crossed lovers, oh my! Unfortunately I haven't had the time to read Firelight yet and I am insanely jealous of those who have. I used to be a little bit disappointed in the cover since it was so similar to the first, but I think I've come around.

Sweet Venom by Terra Lynn Childs Released September 6th 2011
Why Stalk? Descendants of Medusa. Yeah, that awesome greek monster woman with snakes for hair? I really like how the cover designers made the model's hair coiled like a snake or rattler. Not to mention the Mundie Moms gave it a stellar 5 star review.

The Beginning of After by Jennifer Castle Released September 6th 2011
Why Stalk? I have no earthly idea why I want this novel so much. It sounds sad, like lock yourself in a room and cry for days not even bothering with tissues to wipe your snotty face sad. I'm really interested in how Laurel and David's friendship (or more) will develop. I mean it is true that they'll always be bonded by tragedy, but what about the blame? I know I'd probably blame the person driving the other car that hit and killed my parents, so I wonder what Laurel will do.

Drink Slay Love by Sarah Beth Durst Releasing September 13th 2011
Why stalk? Admit it, that cover is totally cool and you know it. Plus, it's pretty laugh out loud hilarious to imagine a unicorn stabbing a vampire in the chest. The description is interesting, but not really a book I'd put at the tip top of my reading pile. I think it'll be a great laugh for anyone who reads it though.

Why Stalk? I love this book cover. In fact I've loved every single cover Matchev's designers come up with. She has such a great team. Alas, I have not read the series yet. I hope to some day but right now it's not a huge priority. I'll still stare at the covers though, like a moth to a flame as long as they keep making them.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern Releasing September 13th 2011
Why Stalk? Circus, magicians, life, death, love all in the space of a show. The writing sounds absolutely wonderful and I love this simple cover. Some people are deciding it might be the next Harry Potter. All I know is, I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy. Birthday present, here I come.

The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson Releasing September 20th 2011
Why Stalk? Ever feel like you're not good enough to be destined for greatness? If you have, you might feel a little bit of sympathy for Elisa. When greatness is picked for her as the declared chosen one, she's understandably nervous. I'm not too crazy about the cover, but the story does sound quite interesting.

Why Stalk? Another fabulous series I haven't had the time to read. ZOMG look at this pretty cover, with the swirls and the pretty dress and the green! Established series readers will be flocking to the stores to buy the latest installment, but I still encourage first time readers to try out Rachel Vincent. Her writing is amazing.

Why Stalk? The glamour and beauty oozing out of this cover should be enough to make anyone want to buy it. But alas, if it is not, the book is the sequel to Bright Young Things by the fantastic Anna Godbersen. Any fan of YA, the 1920s or even really good writing should pick this up.

My Beating Teenage Heart by C. K. Kelly Martin Releasing September 27th 2011
Why Stalk? I like Ghosts. There's something so un-nameably tragic about falling in love with someone who has the same consistency as air. I admit, I'm a sucker for drama and a certain amount of inner pain, but I still think this book will be good despite that. I really am rooting for it to become popular. Good ghost stories with good characters are way too few.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin Releasing September 27th 2011
Why Stalk? I won't deceive you. Amnesiacs frighten the bejeezus outta me. It's not even for a logical reason. It just terrifies me to imagine being someone who has no recollection of the past, someone who is essentially helpless in their own home, someone who has lost their mind and with it, everything that made them, them. It's the scariest possible thing I can imagine having happen to me. However, I am intrigued and interested in this book simply because of The Story Siren, she loved it. Nine times out of ten, if she liked it, I will, so I'm currently giving it the benefit of the doubt.

The Faerie Ring by Kiki Hamilton Releasing September September 27th 2011
Why Stalk? Pretty cover, London slums, thieves, a gorgeous magical ring, faeries, it's really like someone plucked some of my favorite things from head and put them into a book. I honestly don't know why I'm so entranced with the cover or the story but I am. Maybe it's just a "oooh shiny" thing.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor Releasing September 27th 2011
Why Stalk? Kiersten White loves it. Kiersten White wishes she wrote this book. Kiersten White wants everyone in the world to read it and base a contract of world peace around it. I have liked every single quote I've ever seen by Laini Taylor. When describing this book, people have called it "masterful", "haunting" and "beautiful." I am dying and would kill for an arc of this book. Anyone willing to oblige me?

Why Stalk? This lady wrote Anna and the French Kiss, any and all arguments not to buy this book are invalid. Kiersten White says this book is even better than Anna. This further weakens any internal squabbles to buy this book. I will run you over with my lawn mower if you dare pry this book from my hands on release day. That is not a bluff. It is a promise.

The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson Releasing September 29th 2011
Why Stalk? Okay, so I know I'm supposed to find Jack the Ripper absolutely reprehensible as a serial killer and abuser of women, and I do in some small way. However, since I was a child I've had this very weird obsession with him. (I blame Kolchak: The Night Stalker.) He's always been like... the Clark Gable of serial killing to me, if that makes sense. Naturally, with my unhealthy obsession for him, I'm excited to read a book featuring the Ripper. Maybe it will cure, or worsen my obsession with him. (Plus, everyone and their mom who has arcs of this book has loved it.)

That is my very long list of most anticipated books of September 2011. Anyone have any other releases to add to the list?

Happy Reading,
