Fan Letter Friday (10)

This is fan letter friday. All the time I see nice, special, kind and good authors on twitter, facebook, their own blog etc. that I make friends with or follow on accident and I adore them. I like them as more than authors. I like them as people. So, I decided, since I don't have time to review every single book these people have written, I'm going to write to them. I am going to flaunt my love for them all over the internet and hopefully brighten their day. I am going to sound insane, rambly and possibly like a stalker, but that's just part of the fun right?

Dear Kimberly Derting, (Author of The Body Finder, Desires of the Dead, The Last Echo and The Pledge)

Can I just package you up and take you home? All of your blog posts are adorable, sweet and usually involve books.

I love The Body Finder Series, like ridiculously love it. I haven't had a chance to read Desires of the Dead yet and I am so mad at myself for it! I'm so happy summer has finally come so I can make time to devour it like a proper obsessed fan. Violet is one of my favorite heroines. She's just so real. It is an odd thing to say given her powers. I think it's because she's so.... not messed up. Violet's functional and happy with friends, a boyfriend and family who all love her. Usually in YA one parent has to be dead, a friend has to betray another, there has to be all this action and the plot has to contain a bunch of disasters. It is really, really nice to have a stable character who can take care of herself by herself. Also, I adore Jay and Violet's relationship because there was no insta-love or immediate attraction. They were friends who realized they could be more.

Your husband may think your music taste is weird, but I love it. Some book or character playlists are full of deep and slow songs that I don't tend to know. While I really like listening to the new music, yours tends to be happier with sweet melodies.

I love that you have author crushes! Holly Black and Cassie Clare are such amazing writers. I'm so happy that authors still fan girl over other authors. I don't know why, it seemed like you'd be less affected by their writing because you do the same thing. I was completely wrong though. Keep being an obsessed and raving fan girl, it gives hope to all the rest of us.

I know the covers for all of your books are very simple, but I still wanted you to know that I loved them. The blue, pink and purple leaves on The Body finder books are graceful yet eerie. I sort of might have screamed over The Pledge cover for the longest time because I adored it. I can't wait to read it!
