Fan Letter Friday (9)

This is fan letter friday. All the time I see nice, special, kind and good authors on twitter, facebook, their own blog, etc. that I make friends with or follow on accident and I adore them. I like them as more than authors. I like them as people. So, I decided, since I don't have time to review every single book these people have written, I'm going to write to them. I am going to flaunt my love for them all over the internet and hopefully brighten their day. I am going to sound, insane, rambly and possibly like a stalker, but that's just part of the fun right?

 Dear Maggie Stiefvater,

When I think of you, I think of chocolate chip cookies. Specifically cookies the size of people's heads, which you have a recipe for on your blog. I made them with my friends, it was fun and delicious.

I remember wolves and misspellings. I met you at a Barnes and Noble when the first part of the 7th Harry Potter movie came out. You doodled a wolf in my copy of Linger, misspelled my name and then wrote an explanation that fixed it. (I still giggle over that/) I brought you a Harry Potter birthday card because I knew you were bummed about not seeing the movie yet, and it was close to your birthday.

Then I have to think about the random tweets and contests. There was one where you asked twitter to identify the shape of a cookie cutter. I still maintain that it looked like an erect squirrel. I don't remember what it actually was, probably something obscure. Still, it was fun to throw in guesses.

Warm Bodies by Issac Marrion comes next in the line up. I read your 6 reasons to read Warm Bodies and was convinced I had to have the book. Luckily I got an ARC of it and read it in a day. It is now my favorite book and I never have favorites, it's like choosing between cookies and cake pops. It's very hard to find a discernible winner. (I'm still trying to get my hands on Ship Breaker too, your praise of it has me intrigued.)

The more I write about the things I think of when I think about you keeps getting longer.... Loki, Blue Loki, horses, colored pencils, paper dolls, paper cranes, red coffee pots, tea, wolves, doodles, sharpied guitars, song lyrics, book trailers, instrumental music, blog posts, Bag pipes, Lithuania, faeries, clovers, Branson, and dogs. The list just goes on for forever (pun very much intended).

How can one single human being just be so awesome? I mean I know you might be in the awkward people club, founded by Jackson Pearce, but you still rock harder than almost everyone I know. I still can't believe you do all this and are a mom. It blows my mind.

I know you were (to say the least) apprehensive about speaking at NASA, I mean it is one of the most intimidating acronyms ever. However, I didn't understand your worry afterwards. You completely rocked that speech. It sounded normal and inspiring, without making me think of motivational speakers. The message I got was not to let yourself be limited by labels or the past. To me, that's very, very important for everyone to know. I'm so proud that you told it to people who, on a regular basis, find new ways of measuring, exploring and understanding the mechanics of the cosmos.  Most of the people who work there now, probably wouldn't if they had believed their labels.

I am unbelievably excited to see you tomorrow at the Miami "This is Teen" event. I'm going to have my Shiver messenger bag to carry all of my books, possibly do blue, green and orangish nail polish. You probably won't know or recognize me but it will still be fun to see you and Meg Cabot and Libba Bray (and Tessa Gratton).

I hope you continue to have a fabulous time with Tessa Gratton on tour in Blue Loki. I'm reasonably sure I'll die if I see that beautiful car in person.

See you on saturday! (Hopefully having completed reading Forever.)

Love,
