Fan Letter Friday (8) Triple Edition

This is fan letter friday. All the time I see nice, special, kind and good authors on twitter, facebook, their own blog, etc. that I make friends with or follow on accident and I adore them. I like them as more than authors. I like them as people. So, I decided, since I don't have time to review every single book these people have written, I'm going to write to them. I am going to flaunt my love for them all over the internet and hopefully brighten their day. I am going to sound, insane, rambly and possibly like a stalker, but that's just part of the fun right?

Dear Kim Harrington, (Clarity, Perception)

The new cover for Perception is just beautiful. My kudos to your book cover designer. I don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to wait to get my hands on Perception. Clarity was just so good! I can't wait to dive back into Clare's mind and see her wonderful guys.

I'd like to take the opportunity to talk with you about names. Not in criticism though, I really like your names. :) I'm so, so, so happy that Clarity's nickname is Clare. It's simple, short, with a little bit of sweetness. I'm not really a huge fan of Clary as a nickname. (Though I like Clary from The Mortal Instruments series.) The sounds just don't match up for me. Plus, there's a split in pronunciation it could be Cl-air-y or Cl-are-y. So, in summary, I just really like Clare's name, the name spelling and the character.

Justin is also a good name. I have weird connotations with this one. I like the character Justin, I think he's awesome. (And I am totally rooting for him.) But the name Justin itself conjures up prep school surfer snobs. I have no clue why, the Justins I've met are all nice people who are minimally snobbish, so I don't know the reason for this connotation. I wonder if other people have this idea about "Justin" or if it's just me, the lone ranger once again. What are your connections with "Justin?" Aside from him being your character.

Gabriel Toscano. I have to wonder if you picked one of the sexiest names alive on purpose or by serendipity. I love Gabriels. The name is just hot. He just, I can't even speak about it. It's a spectacular name, and under-used in current fiction.

I really like that you're unabashed in spending on books. Some people I know don't say what books they're going out to get because they're worried they or others won't end up liking it. It's nice to see little tweets about going to get Myra McEntire's book or another YA debut. Somehow it makes you more real to me. I don't trust people who don't like books. It tends to mean they have entirely too little imagination.

Thank you for deciding to become an author, Clarity's one of my favorite books! (and thanks for being my friend on goodreads, that's just plain cool to me.)
