Book Stalking (7)

Summer is officially in full swing here at summer girl books! It's sun, sand and great reads all this month of July. Take a look at these hot books making their way into stores now.

Why Stalk? It's about Mermaids. That pretty much seals the deal for me. However, I am very interested in the mermaid's compulsion to drown innocent seafarers. Books usually gloss over or ignore the mermaid's tendancy to sing sailors to their deaths. It will be exciting to finally read a book which touches on the subject.

Why Stalk? I AM EXPERIENCING SO MANY EMOTIONS RIGHT NOW. It's Sam and Grace and Isabel and Cole. It's Maggie Stiefvater and it is all ending! There will be no more winter wolves and snowy kisses. I can't handle this, I am not prepared for this book. If you have not read these books, read them now and be in emotional distress with me. That is an order.

Why Stalk? True, the "best friend hooks up with boy friend behind girl friend's back" plot is very overdone. However, I've heard a lot of good things about this book from some critical people, so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt. Plus, the cover is sort of sweet and soft looking.

Love Story by Jennifer Echols Releasing July 19th 2011
Why Stalk? Being an aspiring writer, I'm sort of morbidly drawn to this story. Jennifer Echols is usually praised as an amazing authors by teens, especially girls. I'm looking to forward to reading my first book of hers.

Small Town Sinners by Melissa Walker Releasing July 19th 2011
Why Stalk? I don't normally go for stories focusing on religion, but I think Small Town Sinners has the potential to be a really great book. I can't wait to see how Lacey balances her beliefs with her desire to be more like a normal and reckless teen. The cover also, looks very awesome. :)

Ripple by Mandy Hubbard Releasing July 21st 2011
Why Stalk? Sirens. I want this book so badly, I have ever since the cover was released. I mean look at it, that is one beautiful cover. Plus, the story sounds so incredibly good, a mermaid that doesn't want to kill and has to swim every night? Reading the description gives me chills. I can't wait to get my hands on this book.

Why Stalk? It's the second Paranormalcy book! That alone should be enough to make people want to read it. The return of dear Lend, spunky Evie and Tasey is so exciting. Finally we can find out what and who Evie is.

Why Stalk? Return of the werewolves! Nightshade (which is a great book) finally has a sequel coming out. The first book left off on such a cliffhanger, I need to see what happens. Maybe there will finally be an explanation for everything that occurred in the first book.

As always, if you feel there are any books I've left off, comment below or e-mail me with other releases. Have a great summer everyone!

Happy Reading,

  1. I just found this sight. I'm a writer and taking the Institute of Children's literature course by correspondence from Connecticut. I live in Canada. I'm about ready to give up because I have trouble coming up with a sense of need for my character for any sort of plot. I saw some of these books about mermaids which I'm trying to write a fictional story about to. I would love to read them, and now that you've posted them maybe I can get my hands on one or two at Chapters to help me out a bit. Thank you!

  2. You're so welcome! :) I'm so happy these books might be able to give you inspiration for your story. Mermaids are one of my favorite mythical creatures. Good luck in your studies!
